Why we made it
We got tired of choosing.
Alexander and Philippe have been friends for a long time, and most of that friendship has happened outside. Somewhere between a Moka pot carried up a mountain and a sachet of instant that tasted like a compromise, it became obvious that outdoor coffee only had two options and neither one was good.
Carrying real coffee means carrying everything real coffee demands: a grinder, a filter, a stove, water you have to boil and time you have to spend. The alternative is a powder that gave up most of its aroma when it was dried. We like gear. We did not like needing that much of it for one cup.
So we built the third option. A coffee concentrate that weighs almost nothing, needs no equipment, and still tastes like coffee.

The break
It happens on a ridge at sunrise, in a parked van at lunch, on the roof of a half-built house. Every day has one.
What we make
This is not instant coffee
Instant coffee is brewed and then dried, and drying is where most of the aroma gets lost. NoNormal coffee is never dried. We brew 100% Colombian Arabica, then reduce it to a concentrate about twenty times stronger than a usual cup.
We add microgrounded coffee for some extra body and natural thickener holds it together so it never needs a fridge, before or after opening.
One teaspoon into 150 ml of water, hot or cold. No grinder, no filter and no pod.
The beans come from Colombia. Everything after that happens in Switzerland with a tube that is made of 100% recycled aluminium.
